COMENIUS WEEK 2011

From 2-9 May 2011, schools are invited to celebrate European school collaboration through Comenius week activities.
Our school is participating with this video, in which the Year 6 children explain how to make the Olympic medals for our mini-olympic event in Oxford.

La
semana del 2 al 9 de mayo se ha celebrado la Semana Comenius en toda Europa. Nuestro colegio ha participado con este video en el que los niños de 6º explican cómo están haciendo las medallas olímpicas para las Mini-olimpiadas que vamos a celebrar en Oxford, el próximo mes de junio.

Here you have the steps for making the medals, just in case you don't speak any Spanish ;-)
Step 1: take a piece of cardboard and a big bottle, trace the bottom of the bottle onto the cardboard
Step 2: glue the two halves of the cardboard circles with white glue for more resistance.
Step 3: Once they are glued, mix water and glue in a cup and mix until there is a plaster mix
Step 4: grab a piece of paper towel and tear it into strips
step 5: place the strips onto the medal and brush the water-glue mixture onto the paper and medal until it is completely covered with paper on both sides. Then wait for it to dry.
Step 6: once the medal is dry, poke a hole in the top of the medal for the ribbon to go through.
Step 7: Then paint it. (gold, silver, bronze)
